  1. Hiring

Prepare a Hiring

How do you prepare for hiring before talking to a recruiter?

The What

How to kick off hiring? From the idea to the published job advertisement.

The How

Dig not collect the hiring needs

  • Team Vision: what the team is trying to achieve?

  • Business Strategy

    • Continue to improve the current market, or

    • Scale to other countries, or

    • Shrink to a maintenance mode?

  • OKRs: both short term and long term

Decide the title

  • Align to the company framework

  • Align to the local market

  • Make sense to the team

Decide the salary

  • HR benchmark

  • Market benchmark

Get the approval

  • Budgeted if it is a vacancy to be backfilled

  • Get the approval if it is a new headcount

Form a hiring team

  • Decide interviewers

  • Be aware of diversity

  • Give them a heads-up

  • Debrief the interview process

  • Backfilling a vacancy is generally easier than hiring a new position

Hiring the wrong one is worse than hiring no one

  • Move fast

  • Engage stakeholders

  • If you haven't hired anyone before, learn from others

  • If the hiring need is wrong, everything is wrong
